Genesal Energy designs a new set to guarantee supply to supermarkets

Genesal Energy provides innovative solutions adapted to the needs of any sector, including large food & drink companies.

In their premises, maintaining the flow of electricity is crucial to guarantee the good quality of the products and service.

Firstly, the preservation of perishable goods requires constant refrigeration to ensure their safety for consumption and, secondly, the support of the operation of critical systems such as computer systems, lighting systems or security cameras. If a supermarket suffers a power outage, the financial and reputational losses can be considerable, as well as causing serious disruption to customers and employees.

To avoid this type of situation, Genesal Energy’s team of engineers designed a solution for one of these in Getafe, Spain. In addition to guaranteeing the supply, it was also adapted to the needs and measurements of the dedicated space. The energy autonomy of the establishment was secured ensuring that it remains operational in events such as overloads or short-circuits.

Our solution

Our engineering department developed a soundproof generator set, with a 450-litre tank and a liquid collection container designed to hold all the fluids that could be leaked (oil, coolant, diesel…).

In addition, a trip coil was fitted in the circuit breaker which acts when there is a power cut, activating the automatic immediately.

Features

  • Calculation of necessary cross-sections for air inlet and outlet in the room.
  • Circuit breaker with minimum voltage trip coil for possible overload, short circuit or earth fault events.
  • Exhaust gas silencer -30dB.
  • 1000W preheating system.
  • Leak tray for liquid collection.

We keep growing within the food retail sector through the delivery of bespoke equipment for a large UK supermarket chain

Essential sectors: Genesal Energy supplies emergency power to a large supermarket chain

The food industry is an essential service whose quality depends largely on flawless logistics.

At Genesal Energy we are aware of the importance of the so-called food retailers, and we know that its facilities cannot afford power failures, especially due to the large amount of perishable products that are stored in these strategic locations.

In relation to the food sector, at Genesal Energy we have just supplied one of the main supermarket chains in Spain with emergency power to achieve the maximum precision and efficiency of the equipment. Specifically, our client needed an emergency system for one of its main logistics centers and after analyzing the place and the environmental conditions, our engineers designed a 2,045 kVA generator set.

The aim: guaranteeing the cold chain

The constant storage of perishable products requires very specific storage conditions, both in terms of temperature and time. A power outage can alter or break the cold chain, which would cause enormous material and economic losses. For this reason, our client needed a generator set including specific features that make it capable of facing the start-up of the entire system in the event of a mains voltage failure.

Thus, we manufactured a super soundproofed generator set, which was installed in a bespoke 40 HC container due to its location.

The control and automation of the generator was also tailor-made so that a PLC device can fully control the emergency system.

Characteristics

  • Integrated power panel inside container
  • Engine coolant heating system to provide the proper temperature when the genset starts.
  • Air inlet and air outlet attenuators to achieve a low noise level.
  • 1500 L double walled fuel tan installed inside an independent room within container.
  • Painted in the customer’s required color.

880 kVA generator sets to operate in parallel

Another accomplishment by our distributors has allowed us to supply two 880 kVA generator sets prepared to operate in parallel with the mains.

The gensets will be taken to different supermarkets in the area if ever a mains failure occurs and they should need power supply.

Features

  • 20HC container with motorized louvers and a recirculation system to fight off low temperatures.
  • 1000L fuel tank integrated into the base frame with leakage collection tray for the whole container.
  • Parallel with mains with Inteligen Base Box control panel and a redundant Comap MRS16 control panel in case the first fails, which will be activated via a selector.
  • Genset prepared for automatic fuel transfer due to a possible future installation of an external fuel tank by the client. External 2” fuel filling point for fuel filling directly from the fuel truck to the genset’s fuel tank.
