Silent generator set for the installations of a television set
/in Applications, Soundproof generator sets, Telecommunications Spain/by GestorWe supplied a generator set to a senior centre in Madrid.
/in Applications, Hospitals, Residential, Soundproof generator sets Spain/by creativoWe have recently supplied a generator set to guarantee the electricity supply in the event of a mains failure in a senior centre located in Madrid.
In this case, it is a soundproofed unit of 550 kVA designed to face any unexpected event of accident.
This senior centre has 220 places available, 40 of which are destined to day care centres, as well as several rest and common areas. Needless to say that a power outage in this kind of centres may cause serious harm to residents since many are dependent persons who need continuing medical care, so it is fundamental to guarantee the electricity supply.
Medical care in these centres is a priority, and that what our customer emphasized. Thus, Genesal we looked for the most suitable solution considering the characteristics of the building and, especially, the residents’ needs.
110% load testing
Our engineering department’s solution focused on making the standard generator set fit like a glove to the place where it will be working inside the building. This genset included an upper air outlet, amongst other features.
Besides, all necessary tests were carried out, including a final test on our load bank up to 110% power aiming to verify that the equipment would work without any problem when needed.
This test is part of the exhaustive controls that Genesal Energy carries out not only customized, but also standard units, to meet the strict quality standards required by the company.
We’ve supplied 18 new super-soundproofed generator sets to the Chilean market
/in Applications, Power Plants, Soundproof generator sets Chile/by GestorIn Latin America, as well as in Europe, there are many countries with a growing demand for gensets providing low sound levels (therefore contributing to a greater social well-being), which are also guaranteed to be able to cover power requirements, whether it be for continuous use or in emergency situations.
One of these countries is Chile, a market with great possibilities and in constant expansion in the energy sector (especially in the field of renewable energy), for which we’ve designed, manufactured and supplied a total of 18 super-soundproof gensets.
The generator sets were tailor-made according to the client’s needs, and two different models were designed (five gensets of 500/550 kVA and 12 of 1000/1100 kVA), but with a common denominator: their great level of sound attenuation: 65 dB at seven metres distance at the point of maximum emission.
To achieve this, the engineering team and the sales department, which at Genesal Energy always work hand in hand, kept the basic cooling requirements into account, without surpassing the length and width of the 40’HC shipping container which encases the generator sets.
Double-walled fuel tank
Specifically in the 550kVA unit, we also installed a medium voltage step-up transformer, and in the 1.100 kVA, a 3.000 litre double-walled fuel tank inside the container, as well as control cabinets, silencers, etc.
On the other hand, to achieve a sound level of 65dB it was necessary to decrease the sound levels by 43’5 and 48 dB respectively. To reach this goal, we selected different materials and solutions, some applied in exactly the same way in both models, but others had to be adapted due to the unique characteristics of each unit, which went beyond their engine’s respective power ratings, to be able to comply with the technical specifications requested by the client.
Finally, once the open-field tests of the prototypes had been carried out following the indications and procedure set by the applicable regulations, the results were as follows:
- GEN1100TC: 64.5dB (A) at 7m distance
- GEN550TC: 64.5dB (A) at 7m distance
These are the main features of both models manufactured for Chile by Genesal

Backup Generator Systems for Deportivo Alavés Mendizorrotza Stadium
/in Applications, football stadium, Soundproof generator sets Spain/by GestorThe expansion of Mendizorroza stadium in Vitoria, home to Spain’s La Liga football team Deportivo Alaves, will include energy designed by Genesal Energy.
Should the mains system go down at any time, the Genesal Energy generator will automatically kick in (pun intended), guaranteeing that the thousands of fans watching the match will not miss any of the action in the newly expanded stadium.
The Mendizorroza stadium is undergoing an investment of 50 million Euros, which will include an increase in capacity from 19,800 seats to 32,000. The 62% addition in spectator capacity forms a part of one the most ambitious undertakings to ever happen in the history of Deportivo Alaves. Overall, the expansion is not just about remodelling the stadium, it will also have a positive impact on the surrounding areas.
Settings such as Mendizorroza, are not only used for top flight Spanish football matches, they are also used for large events such as concerts. It means the role of the genset is fundamental in guaranteeing with efficiency the safety and continued enjoyment of events which congregate thousands of people in one place.
To ensure efficiency and peoples wellbeing are met, the genset supplied by GENESAL ENERGY is very special, designed with a high capacity and an oversized alternator to meet the load peaks that will be demanded from it. The genset offers 650kVA emergency power rating in a sound proofed cabin, and employs a highly reliable engine prepared to immediately take on the required loads in any circumstances should the mains grid itself fail. While also maintaining constant and stable frequency and voltage values.
Oversized Alternator
Another of the peculiarities of the genset is its oversized alternator, for supplying the energy needed to the stadiums metal halide lamps. Both in luminosity and colour, these types of lamps are considered very high performance. They do however have an issue, which is the very high voltage peak reached in the start-up and a switch on phase of between 5 and 10 minutes when cold.
The oversized alternator is chosen because the lights will be switched on by the generator when they are already “hot” from being in use via the mains grid. After a mains grid failure this heat causes a highly reactive charge due to the voltage intensity passing through the condensers, which could destabilise the gensets voltage if it is has not been calculated correctly.
Soundproofed in a specially prepared room
Conscious of the issues faced, Genesal Energy has chosen an alternator specifically designed to supply the required load and re-establish stadium lighting in the minimum time possible.
The Mendizorroza stadium genset includes an electric motor which permits a constant level of frequency for continued power supply, and can recuperate very quickly from the sudden load impact during start-up.
Whilst the genset could easily be installed in the exterior, in this case a made to measure room will be used to place the generator inside, therefore reducing sound emissions and affording a much better acoustic environment in the surrounding area.
We designed a generator set for one of multinational company DSV Sweden, prepared to operate in the extreme cold
/in Applications, Low Temperatures, Soundproof generator sets Sweden/by genesalWe designed a soundproof 450-500 kVA unit prepared to withstand the cold temperatures.
Low temperatures are a critical factor for many companies that manufacture gensets due to the difficulty of designing competitive products that are prepared to operate in the extreme cold in an optimal manner.
This is not the case for Genesal Energy, which has a specific range of gensets that are capable of starting-up and operating intemperatures of up to -30ºC, which has made our brand a reference brand in Scandinavia, as well as other countries in Northern Europe.
One of our latest projects in this “low temperature” range has been for DSV, the Danish logistics and transport company, the fifth in its sector at a worldwide scale. The multinational company needed emergency power for one of its logistics centres in Sweden, and for this it reached out to Genesal.
To meet with DSV’s needs, we designed a soundproof 450-500 kVA unit (GEN500SI) prepared to withstand the cold temperatures.
The unit was installed in DSV’s logistics centre in Jönköping, a municipality located 350 km to the south-east of Stockholm with icy autumns and winters, where the thermometres show temperatures that easily dip below zero degrees.
The genset includes oversized batteries and has heaters integrated in the canopy, in order to maintain the unit at the correct temperature so that it is in perfect conditions to start-up in the cold in the case of a mains failure and guarantee the electricity supply to the centre.
Extra Soundproof Genset
/in Applications, Contingency Gensets, Soundproof generator sets Spain/by GestorIn the engineering side we had to consider various needs.
On the one hand, and due to the unusual location of the genset inside a building in the middle of Madrid, it was necessary to ensure a genset design solution which met with the local regulations pertaining to legally permitted acoustic levels. Genesal’s engineering department proposed the manufacture of a specially built genset to comply with Madrid’s legally permitted acoustic levels. This involved several key design aspects such as extra thick walls on the genset enclosure, silencers integrated in to the air intake and exhaust systems, as well as sound proofing the base frame. This led to the development of a one piece completely enclosed mono block. Additionally Genesal went a step further and researching the need for added silent block anti-vibration parts to the standard number used in manufacture, to eliminate residual vibrations that may increase the noise output.
This was not the only consideration. Genesal’s engineers correctly assumed that the complexity of the location required a unique fuel transfer and control system for the loads to be handled by the genset. This required a fuel tank to be situated in the basement of the building, and a controlled transfer method to be installed. A special alternator was added to guarantee very high stability at different frequencies regardless of the genset load levels, with an added electronic engine speed control unit (ECU) to ensure continuous stability.
