The new ibiza’s water treatment plan will fit genesal energy generator sets

GEN2200HC, grupo electrógeno para planta de cogeneración

Industrial and households’ wastewaters must be treated in sewage treatment plants before they can get back to the environment. These plants also treat the sludge produced in the process according to its final use: waste, agriculture, composting…

These facilities need to be fitted with an emergency back-up system as a power cut can cause pumping-system failures and the collapse of the whole city’s sewage and water purification system. Generator sets are not an option, they are mandatory.

Overpopulated touristic areas are even more critical locations. Ibiza, with its under dimensioned sewerage system, is a perfect example of this problem: dying from success. The usual resident population of almost 150k islanders doubles during the summer provoking a huge impact in its water depuration capacity.

To put an end to this repeating situation, a new water treatment plant is being built in the island. This comprehensive renewal will be finished by the end of the year solving an old issue in the Balearic Islands. Genesal Energy has designed, manufactured and commissioned its emergency generator set.

We carefully examined the location, studied the requirements and provided a turnkey project designed to guarantee the correct operation of the facilities providing clean water to this Mediterranean paradise. This is the result.

  • WHERE:

    SPAIN

  • CUSTOMER’S NEED:

Design, manufacturing and commissioning of a ready-to-use low noise genset.

The Need

Provide the new Ibiza’s Water Treatment Plant with reliable, low noise emitting emergency back-up power, in the available space and within the delivery deadline.

Genesal Proposal

Turnkey project conducted by our Engineering Department with these main features:

  • AMF-operation generator set capable of supplying power to the pumping system among other loads. A 1650 kVA ESP generator was the choice for these requirements.
  • Given the dimensions of the room and the noise emission’s requirements, the set was designed as compact as possible and fitted with -30 dB(A) air inlet and outlet silencers creating the perfect balance between cooling and soundproofing.
  • A 2000 litres fuel tank for greater autonomy.
  • A busbar capable of taking twelve 240mm2 conductors per phase.
  • Given the complexity of this installation, Genesal undertook the whole commissioning. Fitting the set in its room with air silencers and hoppers and mounting the exhaust silencers and chimney in the outside of the building.
Features
  • Open skid
  • Base frame integrated exhaust system
  • 2000 L integrated fuel tank
  • Inlet Air mufflers with supporting framework
  • Outlet Air muffler adjoined to the set
Technical Features
  • Supply: Tailor-made baseframe
  • PRP: 1500
  • STP: 1650
  • Voltage: 430/230 V
  • Frequency: 50 HZ
  • RPM: 1500
  • Engine: Baudouin
  • Alternator: Stamford
