We supplied power to the Valdebebas pandemic hospital in Madrid to combat Covid-19

Genesal Energy has supplied the whole emergency network for the Hospital de Emergencias Enfermera Isabel Zendal built by the Community of Madrid in Valdebebas, through the design, manufacture and supply of two large emergency generator sets of 2.500 kVA.

The hospital complex, located near the Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas airport, has been built to combat covid-19 and its concept is based on the field hospital opened last March in Ifema. The Isabel Zendal hospital also features multipurpose treatment rooms which can be used as operating rooms or outpatient surgery rooms.

The complex contains 48 ICUs and a thousand beds, distributed in three wards of 7.400 square metres each. Due to its own characteristics, the pandemic hospital required a high capacity emergency network so that, facing a possible mains failure, the medical equipment and treatment would not be affected.

Essential service

From the beginning of the health crisis, and as part of a sector which offers an essential service, at Genesal Energy we’ve increased our efforts to ensure power supply at all times to those indispensable services which, given their characteristics, can not grind to a halt. Amongst them are the critical services from the health sector such as hospitals, laboratories and investigation centres.

As specialists in the design and manufacture of generator sets for hospitals, we know that precision and effectiveness are basic aspects in the development process of this kind of gensets so as to not endanger the safety of the medical center’s facilities and above all, that of the patients.

For the pandemic hospital, our engineering team designed bespoke and of course, highly soundproof, generator sets. They were installed in 40’HC containers prepared to operate in parallel.
