Taking our energy to one of the most advanced laboratories in Europe

Leader in the production of generic drugs, this laboratory is a reference in the pharmaceutical industry and its facilities in Tres Cantos (Madrid) are amongst the most innovative in Europe. With a surface of more than 100.000 m2 and featuring the latest technology, its headquarters are a benchmark in the sector.

In order to give the best support to the pharmaceutical giant and to guarantee power supply in the event of a power outage, the company was looking for a different generator set to what was in the market: it needed a customized unit designed to start operating at one hundred percent power facing potential adverse situations that may occur in the laboratories.

  • WHERE:

    Spain

  • CLIENT’S NEED:

In order to provide a greater support to the installations and guarantee continuity in the event of a mains failure, a generator set of 1000 kVA PRP and 1100 kVA ESP was installed.

Dimensions and soundproofing

Our engineering team analyzed the lab’s particular features with the client, carried out meticulous fieldwork, and looked for the best location for the future emergency generator set.

The result was a 1.000/1.100 kVA emergency genset with specific features, especially with regard to its size and soundproofing. And so, it was vital for the generator set to be as silent as possible so that the emergency unit wouldn’t alter the usual development of work at the laboratories if ever there were to be a mains failure.

We gave the generator sets air inlet and outlet silencers and, if the process for the air inlet was relatively simple, installing the silencer for the air outlet -the area on the genset with the highest sound level- was no easy feat, and so we had to find another solution. In this case, we opted for a silencer of great dimensions, capable of reducing sound by 30 dB (A).

On the other hand, the generator set, of large dimensions, needed a suitable container to adapt to its size. The solution was as follows: it was attached to the exterior of the unit, and a specific structure was designed for this purpose, for its correct support.

Features

  • 600 L fuel tank in the base frame with capacity for collecting the engine oil.
  • Control panel accessible from the container exterior.
  • Engine cooling liquid recirculation and heating system to provide the adequate temperature for genset startup.
  • Silentblocks on the base frame to absorb the engine’s vibrations.
