Containerised Generator for the “12 de Octubre Hospital” in Madrid.
In this great city of white gowns, Genesal Energy is doing its bit by supplying what we do best: emergency power.
The brand new “12 de Octubre” Hospital in Madrid is considered the largest civil engineering project currently underway in Spain. It will have more than 1400 beds and breaking-ground ICU technology. The building’s structure and façade were completed in early 2023. When finished, it will have 40 ORs, areas for major ambulatory surgery, reanimation and intensive care.
The project also includes the complete refurbishment of the Oncology and Radiotherapy areas. More than a thousand workers are working on this remodelling project, where the numbers are staggering: a surface area of 133000 square metres and a budget of more than 200M €.
Our technical solution
The project we undertook for this state-of-the-art hospital complex consisted of providing first class back-up power to ensure absolutely normal operation in the event of a mains failure.
The designed solution consisted of one 800/880 kVA soundproofed containerised generator set in a 20 feet container with automatic start-up in the event of a mains power failure and four 1500/1600 kVA open type generator sets for parallel operation.
Genesal Energy has extensive expertise in tailor-made projects for hospital premises where the number of services and equipment requiring 24-hour power supply is very high. In addition to issues such as noise level – soundproofing is fundamental – our generator sets for hospitals must be exceptionally powerful and fitted with special starting systems to respond in record time.
